• ExxonMobil promises to add over 40,000 bpd of output in Nigeria in the near future.

On Monday in New York, President Bola Tinubu hosted a delegation that included the global leadership of the oil and gas multinational ExxonMobil. He made it clear that Nigeria is no longer content to accept crumbs and leftovers on the investment agenda of the most prolific energy conglomerates in the world, declaring that “Nigeria has never been more ready for business than it is now.”

Following an illustrious career in the private sector as a professional accountant in the oil and gas industry, President Tinubu claims that he has demonstrated his ability to make difficult decisions as President and is best equipped to resolve issues and remove any obstacles preventing new and significant capital from flowing into Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

“The complex problems demand my immediate supervision. I will sit down and supervise the process of removing these obstacles to the creation of jobs and riches for the Nigerian people in spite of my numerous competing duties. We understand the business. We developed there. The President clearly stated, “We are in a position to fix the problems, and we are pragmatic, so we will solve the problem.

Liam Mallon, the president of ExxonMobil’s global upstream operations, gave President Tinubu the reassurance that he is aware of the new and personal commitment the President is making on behalf of Nigeria and that the company is in a good position to support the President’s efforts with new investment. Mallon promised to increase production at its Nigerian operations by nearly 40,000 bpd as part of a new investment push in Nigeria.

You promised that your team will work with us, and it has shown out to be true. Since our last meeting, we have made considerable progress. We are increasing our output and making significant progress in our deepwater production. We value your efforts and will return the favor. The moment has come. I appreciate your leadership, said the president of ExxonMobil.
