Before stealing one Bimodal Voter Accreditation System for polling units 11 and 12 at Oniong West Ward 1 in the state’s Onna Local Government Area, hoodlums believed to be supporters of a political party in Akwa Ibom State cut matchets on two voters.
The victims were rushed to a hospital in the LGA, where they were receiving treatment, according to a source who asked to remain anonymous and who spoke to our correspondent.

One BVAS was hijacked by some hoodlums who broke into units 11 and 12 at Oniong West Ward 1 in the state’s Onna Local Government Area, according to the source. Two of their victims received matchet cuts before they fled into the bush.“The victims have been taken to the hospital in Onna LGA for treatment.”
The chairman of Onna LGA, Mr Iniabasi Ekanem, who confirmed the incident, however, said the incident was being handled by the security agencies.
“We have little issues, we expected it but it depends on the way we manage it. The security officers stationed in the area helped to quell the situation.

While calling on Independent National Electoral Commission to extend the voting time due to the malfunctioned BVAS.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko MacDon denied the incident.
