On Thursday, the Economic Community of West African States urged tax authorities in Nigeria and other nations in the area to focus on domestic income mobilization in order to address existing challenges.

Tiemtore Salifou, ECOWAS Director (Trade, Customs Union), announced this in Abuja at the inaugural session of the Support Programme for Tax Transition in West Africa’s first key stakeholders conference.
“We need to share experiences and work toward transferring tax income while also ensuring that international tax norms are followed,” he said.
“We will address how to manage expenditure under a tax regime, as well as the management of Value Added Tax expenditure and tax reforms in Nigeria and Liberia.”
