Nigeria abducted Biafra separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya according to his family,

According to his family and attorneys, the Nigerian government detained a leader of the Biafra separatist movement from the United Kingdom in Kenya and transported him to Nigeria in an act of extraordinary rendition.

Nnamdi Kanu, a British-Nigerian citizen, fled Nigeria in 2017 while out on bail on charges of terrorism and incitement. He was charged with terrorism and incitement. He was apprehended last week and taken to the Nigerian capital, Abuja, for questioning.

The location of where he was taken has been withheld by the Nigerian government. Due to the fact that his whereabouts had been unknown for several years, the arrest came as a complete surprise in Nigeria.

Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob), a prominent separatist movement in Nigeria that has been outlawed, has long been a well-known and controversial figure in the country. On several occasions, he has called for the secession of Biafra, including in broadcasts made from Radio Biafra, a digital radio station he founded and operated out of his home in south London.
