Ibrahim Magu, a former Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was denied promotion by the Police Service Commission on Thursday (EFCC).
Magu would not be promoted until the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, as well as the Office of the Inspector General of Police, have cleared him of recent corruption charges, according to the panel.

Remember that in July 2020, Mr Magu was arrested and forced to appear before a presidential tribunal examining claims of corruption and insubordination leveled against him by Nigeria’s justice minister, Abubakar Malami.
Mr Magu and Mr Malami have repeatedly clashed over the anti-corruption fight, and many Nigerians, including Femi Odekunle, a member of a presidential anti-corruption committee, feel Mr Magu’s plight is part of a power play with Mr Malami.
