On Monday, Osun State judicial employees staged a protest outside the High Court building, which houses the state chief judge’s office, over allegations of member suspension and unpaid wardrobe allowance.
Signs reading, among other things, “Judiciary staff deserve better working conditions” and “Unlawful suspension of judiciary staff is barbaric” were affixed to the entrance gate by the demonstrators.
The Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo, has refused to pay wardrobe allowance intended for workers and has suspended certain members for three years, even though the court has upheld their legal status, according to Union Chairman Gbenga Eludire, who explained the reason for the protest.

“We are not aware of the Governor’s suspension of the Chief Judge. Anything that is going on between them is only a problem between the executive branch of government and the judiciary; it is unrelated to us.
“We are protesting to defend JUSUN members’ interests against the CJ’s haughtiness,” he declared.
