Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, announced on Thursday that his administration will continue to hire foreign contractors for important projects but will also favor capable indigenous contractors.

This was revealed by Governor Oborevwori during the inspection of a few finished and ongoing projects in the state’s local government areas of Aniocha South and Ika North East.

The Owa-Alero campus, Ute-Okpu-Ute-Enugu Road, Isheagu-Ewulu Road, and the engineering and environmental science faculties at the University of Delta (UNIDEL) are among the projects that were inspected.

He praised Ifeanyi Okowa, the state’s most recent governor, for starting the projects and said his administration would keep expanding on already-started initiatives while also starting new ones.

“All the villages around this area are connected by this specific road,” stated Oborevwori. The road will improve business in the communities along this route. There is another village called Ewulu, which is located down the road.

With the work completed thus far, we are pleased. The road’s asphalting will be finished between now and December, the contractor has promised.

Approximately 76% of the work has been completed; only 24% remains to be done. With full mobilization, the contractor has guaranteed that the work will be finished by the end of the following month.

We also use indigenous contractors, and this is one of them that we do business with. We are quite pleased with the work he has completed.

The governor at UNIDEL’s Owa-Alero campus expressed satisfaction with the caliber of work completed at the Engineering and Environmental faculties.

The Environmental Sciences Faculty, he said, had two 250-seat theater halls, four 50-seat lecture halls, and four studios; the Engineering Faculty, on the other hand, had eight 100-seat halls and one 500-seat hall that were finished and up for occupancy.

Regarding the Engineering Faculty, I’m thrilled with everything they’ve accomplished. The fully functional workshop is currently in operation.

The governor went on, saying that the Faculty of Engineering’s remaining duties are limited to facility equipment. After that’s finished, we can arrive for commissioning. With how the two different contractors are handling the two different projects, I’m very pleased.

“Having all of the departments housed in one building is a benefit of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. Therefore, I applaud the contractor’s actions.
