Nestle empowers 10 graduates

Nestle Nigeria Plc has graduated 10 youths from its Technical Training Centre, reaffirming its commitment to youth empowerment and skills development in Nigeria.

Nestle Nigeria’s outgoing Factory Manager, Ibukun-Olu Ipinmoye, disclosed this at the ‘Nestle Technical Training Centre graduation’ held in Ogun State on Wednesday.

Ipinmoye congratulated the graduates for their dedication over the past 18 months, noting that they had demonstrated capability in character and learning and adhered to the company’s safety protocols.

“Experience can become outdated, and Nestle is committed to equipping the younger generation with new skills and keeping them up to date. We are open to supporting the indigenes, and the company is committed to ensuring a circular economy,” he added.

The Managing Director of Nestle Nigeria, Wassim El-Husseini, highlighted the broader impact of the training programme, stating, “This brings the total headcount this year to 30. Today, more than 198 people have passed through this program, and we are delighted to say that we have employed over 70 individuals this year.”

El-Husseini emphasised the company’s dedication to investing in youth development.

“Our programme aims to provide employment opportunities in the form of internships to equip youths for better advantages in the corporate world. We have reached over 16,000 youths in employment opportunities. Altogether, we reach over 25,000 youths through this initiative every year,” he continued.

The Country HR Manager of Nestle Nigeria, Alhaji Shakiru, stressed the company’s consistent efforts in youth training.

“Consistency is key to greatness. Nestle has been consistent with its graduate training program. In April, we employed 20 persons who are now economically buoyant. By September 13, we will be graduating another 20 people. We have solid programs for youths, and the best we can do is to build solid capability in youths, which can make Nigeria a frontline country,” he said.

An alumnus of Nestle, Moshood Kilaso, encouraged the graduates to maintain resilience in their duties. “To maintain resilience in your duties, always strive to be the best.”

One of the graduates, Ezekiel Bibire, reflected on the challenging journey and the knowledge gained. “The journey was not easy, but through it all, we have achieved this milestone and are delighted for the knowledge imparted,” he stated.
