NDLEA Intercepts Over 294,000 Tramadol Tabs, Rohyphnol, Other Illicit Drugs In Delta, Bauchi, Lagos

In major operations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 294,440 tablets of Tramadol, Diazepam, Swinol, Rohyphnol, and Exol-5, as well as other illicit drugs.

The drugs were intercepted in Delta, Bauchi, and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, according to the agency’s statement released on Sunday by the director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi.

According to Babafemi, one Christian Onah, 42, was arrested at the Isele-Azagba junction in Delta with 23,160 Swinol tablets and 66,000 Rohypnol tablets, both weighing 71.6kg, and was transporting drugs to Benin and Onitsha, Anambra state.

“A commercial vehicle from Onitsha bound for Ibadan, Oyo state, was stopped at Abraka junction in Asaba on Wednesday, March 2, with 78,000 Tramadol capsules.

“In addition, 5, 000 Diazepam tablets and 97, 500 Exol-5 tablets were seized, and a suspect, Olaniyan Sunday, 42, was arrested.”

“On Friday, March 4, at least one female suspect, Patricia Saduwa, 42, was arrested with 233.7 kilograms of cannabis during a raid in Orogun community, close to Abbi town, in Kwale LGA, Delta state.”

“On the same day, a raid on another house in the neighborhood resulted in the seizure of 123.7kg of cannabis, while the owner remains at large,” he said.

According to Babafemi, operatives raided a warehouse in Gadar-Maiwa, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi, based on credible intelligence.

On Wednesday, March 2, he said, 542.5kg of cannabis, 6,800 Diazepam tablets, and 12,400 Exol-5 tablets were recovered.

“At MMIA, one Audu Muhammed was arrested on Saturday, March 5 at the Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) export shed with 1.550kg of cannabis hidden in golden morn cereal packs bound for Dubai, UAE.”

“Two days earlier, on March 3, a suspect named Olalekan Wasiu Ayinde was arrested at the export shed with 4,980 Tramadol capsules.

“We intercepted 600 Rohypnol capsules and some designer drugs hidden inside locust beans and hidden among food items for export to South Africa,” he said.

The Chairman of the NDLEA, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, commended officers and men of the agency’s Delta, Bauchi, and MMIA commands, according to Babafemi.

Marwa urged them and their Nigerian compatriots to remain vigilant and on the offensive until all drug cartels in the country were demolished.
