In 2021, the Oyo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) claims to have arrested 330 drug traffickers and secured 48 convictions in the state.
Dr Wale Ige, the state’s NDLEA commander, confirmed this in a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs Mutiat Okuwobi, on Sunday in Ibadan.
Ige said the suspects were arrested for dealing in a variety of drugs, including Cannabis sativa, Tramadol, Diazepam, Rohypnol, Colorado, Codeine, chocolate infused with codeine, and other psychotropic substances.
In the year under review, Ige said, 101 suspects were charged in court, with 48 of them being found guilty of various drug offenses and sentenced to prison terms ranging from six months to life.

“A total of 104 People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) were counseled by the command, with 98 males and six females participating.
“We currently have five clients undergoing residential rehabilitation, and ten people were rehabilitated and reintegrated into society during the fiscal year under review,” he said.
During the period under review, the command seized 3,543.96 kilogrammes of Cannabis sativa and other narcotic and psychotropic substances, according to Ige. (NAN
