At the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended Okeke Adolphus Anayochukwu, a 52-year-old father of four, with black liquid cocaine (NAIA).
Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, stated in a statement on Sunday that this was the first time anything like this had occurred.
According to Babafemi, Okeke, who claimed to be a businessman, was apprehended with 20.75 kilos of black liquid cocaine upon his arrival at the Abuja airport aboard a Qatar Airways aircraft from Sao Paulo, Brazil, through Doha, Qatar, to Abuja on Tuesday, March 15th.
He said the liquid was found during a check of his two suitcases, which were crammed with six smaller bags containing 32 mascara tubes that tested positive for cocaine.
“The indigene of Oraifiti in the Akwusigo local government area of Anambra State says he was a trader dealing in children’s toys before venturing into the criminal drug industry. He is married with four children.” “He said he met the guy who handed him the package to deliver in Nigeria for a charge of Two Million (N2, 000,000) Naira at a drinking place in Brazil,” a spokesperson for the Agency said.
He went on to say that varied amounts of various substances were collected from suspects in other raids around the nation.

“At least three persons: Tony Samson, Paul Adamu, and Reuben Waziri were detained in Kaduna on Friday 18th March with 18,380 Tramadol pills, 12,500 Diazepam tablets, and Exol-5 tablets,” the statement states.
On the 17th of March, NDLEA agents in Anambra apprehended a bus with the registration number AGU 460 ZW, which was traveling from Onitsha to Aba, Abia state. During the search, seven and a half giant bags of cannabis totaling 362kg were discovered, and the driver, Ifeanyi Anyamele, acknowledged to being the drug’s owner.
“On Wednesday, March 16th, narcotic cops in Ogun state discovered 865.2kg of cannabis sativa along Otapele-Obada road in Imeko-Afon LGA.” The shipment was carried in on motorcycles from Benin Republic for transfer to Lagos and Abeokuta.
“On the same day, agents in the state detained Bello Ibrahim, 38, at Ogere tollgate, Ikenne LGA, with 312.4kg of cannabis Sativa.
“While commending officers and men of the NAIA, Kaduna, Anambra, and Ogun state Commands of the Agency for their vigilance and diligence, Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), charged them and their counterparts across the country to always remain steps ahead of the tricks of drug traffickers and barons,” the statement read.
