The NBA has reacted to Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi’s apology.
On Tuesday, an Abuja Federal High Court sacked Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe.
The judge did a “hatchet job”, said the governor. The ruling was a “sham”.
President Olumide Akpata of the NBA said Thursday that he had condemned the reaction and demanded a retraction.

Umahi tried hard to reach Akpata, he said.
The NBA has no interest in the case other than to protect the sanctity of the judicial system, the lawyer said.
He unreservedly apologized for his comments, clarified his intentions and, most importantly, called for calm while urging his people to refrain from denigrating the Judiciary.
My Lord the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria and His Lordship, Hon. Justice Inyang Ekwo, will be immediately informed of this apology and urged to accept it.
Akpata reiterated that challenging unfavorable court decisions is a legal procedure.
The President pledged that his administration will continue to defend the rule of law, the judiciary’s independence, and the sanctity of court orders.

“Now that the right thing has been done and the appeal process has begun, we will step back and let the process unfold.
“For the NBA, this ends this unfortunate episode, but we hope important lessons have been learned”, he added.
