Bank clients have threatened to disrupt CBN and Zamfara Gov. House demonstrations, according to Naira notes Dated February 10, 2023 Through Ifeanyi Nwant toh

Due to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s, CBN, and commercial banks’ refusal to provide cash to their clients in the state, bank customers in Zamfara State have bemoaned that they have reached the end of their patience.

Most bank customers bemoaned the fact that they had been in the banks for several days without being able to retrieve their money because of shady tactics.

They bemoaned the possibility that if the unpleasant scenario persisted, the bank customers might organize protests at the CBN in Gusau and the State Government House.

Customer Hamisu claims that his bank had trouble getting new Naira notes for two days and blamed the apex bank for the shortage of both old and new Naira notes.

He bemoaned, “I go to the bank every day to get the money I deposited there, but it’s all for nothing.

“Neither banks nor point of sale, or POS, are places where one can pick up their money. We are asserting our legal rights, not requesting loans from the banks.

“The Federal Government and CBN compelled us to deposit the old Naira notes on or before January 31st, which we did, however we are unable to use both the old and new Naira notes at this time. This is cruel treatment of people.

The capacity of an Automated Teller Machine, or ATM, is up to N10 million, but banks barely load N10 million, blaming the difficulties on the lack of funds, according to one bank official who did not want to provide his name for security concerns.

He claimed that bank employees were in danger because irate clients were threatening to harm them for withholding their money and that the apex bank was mostly to blame for the issues.

Some banks, whose ATMs have money in them, reportedly forbid consumers from withdrawing more than N5,000.

According to this source, the majority of businesses in the State have shut down since their owners were unable to sustain them due to poor customer demand and a shortage of both old and new Naira currency.
