Muazu Magaji, the embattled Kano State governor’s critic who has been in prison for alleged defamation of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has formally expressed his full loyalty to Senator Ibrahim Shekarau’s G-7 faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, just two days after being granted bail.
Magaji met with Shekarau and other key leaders of his faction, including Sha’aban Sharada, Danzago, and many other party loyalists, in his Kano residence yesterday.

Magaji said in a statement yesterday that he was completely loyal to the Shekarau APC faction and that they care about Kano.
The Kano State chapter of the APC is still in crisis as the peace move which was being brokered by the national leadership of the party has collapsed following the disagreement between Ganduje and the Shekarau-led factions on terms.

He said, “God has brought us from our political journey which in any historical perspective is basically strengthening the idea of struggle. We have been to the court and the judge has bailed us out with a condition not to comment on the specifics of the case.
“We will stay true to that court ruling because we are law-abiding citizens. We are in the home of our leader, Shekarau. The G-7 Movement has taken a new dimension which led to possession of the control of the APC in Kano both at legal and political levels.
“We will continue to advocate the right thing, to tell the truth and to stand by the truth. What we will do going forward is to actively strengthen our team based on our win-win Kano ‘sabuwa’ as we came to get the blessing of our leader.
“Our agenda is based on mobilising the young people of Kano and indeed the whole country to create an opportunity for generational leadership change.
