The District Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Christ Beloved District, Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, John Oluwatuyi, has advocated for investment in youth moral upbringing by parents and the church as a way of addressing the moral decadence that has ravaged the youth population.
Oluwatuyi, who disclosed this at the 19th children’s anniversary of the church, stressed that children were the future of any nation and therefore deserve all the proper upbringing that would make them useful for their immediate society and the nation at large in the nearest future.
The event which featured performances in quiz competitions, song renditions, and memory verse citations among others was held at the church’s auditorium on Saturday.
Speaking on the significance of the Children’s Day celebration, the cleric harped on the need for parents to rise to their responsibility of moulding young persons into good adults for the future of the country.
He bemoaned the rising moral decadence in the nation which he stressed posed a threat for the next generation.
He added, “The missing link is morality. Generally, there is moral decadence in society and it affects not only the youths alone but the entire facet of the nation. I am afraid of this generation because, by the time they postulate this generation to the next generation, I don’t know what’s going to happen in general. During our generation, we feared our parents but today it is the parents that are afraid of their children.
“There is a lot that is happening in this generation that is not good at all. There should be corrections from the youths themselves to at least remodel themselves and even to the parents to try as much as possible to remodel their children for the future generation and the society at large.
“To me as a person, children are the future of the church and the nation as a whole. We must give them the forum to see them perform some responsibilities and direct the whole program of the church towards them so that they can be moulded towards righteousness which will speak volumes for the next generation.”
