Missing’ BRT passenger’s mother seeks assistance

Miss Oluwabamise Ayanwola, a 22-year-old woman, went missing while riding in a BRT bus in Lagos State, according to police and the Lagos Bus Rapid Transit.

This comes as Ayanwola’s mother has cried out for assistance, claiming her daughter has been “kidnapped.”

Ayanwola went missing while returning to Ota from Ajah on Saturday, February 26 at around 7 p.m. when she boarded a BRT bus with the number 240257 going to Oshodi at Chevron Bus-Stop.

The victim works as a Fashion Designer at Chevron Estate in Ajah and spends her weekends with her sister in Ota, Ogun State.

Sensing danger as the bus failed to pick up any other passengers at subsequent bus stops, Oluwabamise used voice notes on her phone to contact a friend.

The bus driver said he liked Oluwabamise and asked for her name and other information, according to the voice notes.

She asked her friend to pray for her because she was suspicious of the bus driver, and her friend advised her to get off at Oworonsoki bus stop, which was before Oshodi bus stop.

“There are three men and one woman in the bus,” Oluwabamise said in a video she sent to a friend, describing how dark it was on the bus. The woman is seated in the back row. In case anything goes wrong, that’s the bus number. Please keep me in your prayers.”

According to Oluwabamise’s mother, that was the last time she heard from him.

“I believe Nigerians should assist me. In a viral video, she said, “I want to see my daughter alive.”

Oluwabamise had not been seen since she left Ajah on Saturday, according to a family member, Mr Johnson Omilana.

“We met with the BRT general manager and three other management staff members, who informed us that the matter was being discussed on social media, which could jeopardize the police investigation.”

“We were told by BRT management that they were working with the police to find the missing girl.

“The management also informed us that they do not directly employ drivers and that the consultants involved have been sanctioned as a result of the incident,” says the report. Omilana remarked.

When contacted, Adekunle Ajisebutu, a police spokesman in Lagos State, confirmed that the incident was under investigation.
