The All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State has named Alhaji Babayo Misau, the candidate of Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, as its Chairman.

Following a consensus process that began on Saturday, October 16 and ended on Sunday, October 17, he and 35 other executives were announced in the early hours of Sunday.

Jibrin Sam, the chairman of the state Congress Committee, said the officials were chosen by delegates and stakeholders of the party.

In an interview with journalists on Saturday evening, Sam stated that the results of the Congress would not be announced until Monday.

He explained that this was done to allow stakeholders to consult with one another and come up with a consensus candidate.

However, around 1.00 a.m. on Sunday, he announced that Misau had been chosen by consensus.

The committee was tasked by the party’s National Secretariat to hold a free and fair congress in the state, according to Sam.
“We gave stakeholders of each local government area and their zones the opportunity to elect state executives without rancor,” he said.

“As a result, we affirm the elected officials in accordance with the party’s guidelines and policies.”

During the election process, he explained, the committee did not interfere with stakeholders’ decisions.

The party, he said, was committed to bringing in leaders who could work tirelessly to depose the state’s Peoples Democratic Party-led government.

He claimed that the APC owned Bauchi State and that the party would reclaim it in 2023.

He praised the stakeholders and party loyalists, however, for remaining calm during the Congress.
