Two fatal crashes at Sango-Otta Tollgate leave four dead, many Injured

In two separate crashes that occurred at the Tollgate axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway within twenty-four hours, four people were reportedly killed and three others suffered serious injuries.

An inbound Dangote truck with the registration number KNN788YA rammed into several lockup shops at the tollgate on Tuesday at around 8.41 p.m., injuring five additional people, including four females and a male. This crash was the first, according to a report from the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps’ TRACE.

The male victim and two of the remaining two female victims both passed away instantly. The other male victim sustained serious injuries. The two injured victims were taken as quickly as possible to the State Hospital in Ota, while the bodies of the deceased were placed in the morgue of the same facility.

A motorcycle, a DAF BLUE TRUCK with the license plate KTG942YG, a BOXER LOW-BED TRUCK with the license plate AAB509XZ, and another accident happened at the same tollgate on Wednesday morning at around 9.50 am.

According to a different report on the collision that was provided by the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps’ TRACE, the two trucks headed into Lagos were moving along in their lanes when the motorcycle rider who was traveling against the flow of traffic struck one of the trucks, impacting the second truck that was following it.

A passenger in one of the trucks suffered serious injuries, while the motorcycle rider passed away instantly.

The Ota General Hospital has received the deceased person’s corpse, and the injured have also been transported there.
Three people were killed and two others were injured when a truck with the license plate KNN 788 YA rammed into shops due to the driver’s “reckless driving and brake failure,” according to the Public Relations Officer for TRAC, Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi.
