Following the deaths of three people in an accident involving a train and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle along the PWD railway crossing, Ikeja on Thursday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has canceled his scheduled engagement with youths.
This was said by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Segun Dawudu, at an event at the Point View Event Centre in Ikeja, where the Governor was going to meet with more than 2,000 young people.

According to Dawudu, the cancellation was made in memory of the crash victims.
In the early hours of Thursday, a fully loaded bus collided with a train, killing two women and one man while seriously injuring many others.
The event had been postponed, so the youths who were already seated were told to leave.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was visiting the injured in the hospital and would not be able to attend the event, according to Dawudu, who said it will now take place the following week.
In addition to offering his condolences to the families of those who perished in the accident, he assured them that the state government would support those who were hurt in every way possible.

All Lagos residents were urged to offer a prayer for the souls of the deceased by Dawodu.
Additionally, some of them in attendance youth were urged to go to the Gbagada General Hospital and the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH Ikeja, to donate blood to the wounded.
