In a fierce battle in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government, Nigerian Army soldiers neutralized one bandit and destroyed a criminal hideout.
After the troops encountered the bandits, they also freed 14 kidnapped victims.
In a statement released on Saturday, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna, confirmed that the bandit hideout was destroyed during a fierce battle between the 167 Battalion’s Special Forces and members of Sector Four of Operation Whirl.

He claimed that the troops engaged and overpowered the outlaws in the Tukurua general area of the Chikun LGA, neutralizing one while chasing the others as they fled in confusion.
Nine men and five women out of 14 kidnapped victims were rescued by the troops, he claimed, and they took them to a secure location for evaluation and debriefing before returning them to their families.

He claimed that in addition to destroying several camps, the troops also found two motorcycles and were applauded for their efforts by Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
