Four Nasarawa University students were kidnapped, police confirm.

As part of a paradigm shift in its strategy to fight corruption globally, the Federal Government announced on Tuesday that it was taking the increasing calls for the creation of an International Anti-Corruption Court into consideration.

It is impossible to overestimate the damaging effects of corruption on Nigeria’s growth, stability, and prosperity, according to the administration.

This was said in a speech given in Abuja during the 33rd Anti-Corruption Situation Room, which was organized by Integrity Initiatives International and Human and Environmental Development Agenda, also known as HEDA Resource Center. The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), was represented by Deputy Director (Public Prosecution), Yusuf Abdullahi Abdulkadir.

“The establishment of an IACC could be extremely beneficial for Nigeria, a nation that has been severely impacted by corruption,” he declared. Cases involving people and assets situated overseas, frequently connected to massive corruption schemes that severely hinder Nigeria’s development efforts, could be heard by such a court. It might operate as an extra instrument to bolster and support the country’s ongoing domestic anti-corruption initiatives. The AGF stated that graft is a cancer that knows no bounds, undermining trust, undermining institutions, impeding economic growth, and sustaining social injustice, even as it characterizes corruption in all of its manifestations as a serious threat to the stability, advancement, and development of nations worldwide.

Olanrewaju Suraj, the Chairman of HEDA, expressed regret that “many corrupt people are getting elevated to higher places.”

It is evident that ministers facing corruption charges are getting back into positions. A significant portion of them are currently serving as heads of agencies at the federal and state levels, some are becoming ministers, some governors who are still on trial, and so on, the speaker stated.
