It was discovered that terrorists killed at least 42 members of a vigilante group in the Yargoje forest of Kankara in Katsina State on Thursday night.
Two additional vigilante members were hurt during the attack, according to the police, who also confirmed the killing.
On Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari denounced the murder of 42 members of the vigilante organization Yan Sakai.
A panel of inquiry will be established by the Katsina State government to look into the circumstances leading up to the massacre.
Mr. Buhari paid tribute to the vigilantes and their families in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the president’s media aide.

He claimed that they perished as martyrs for trying to stop and punish crime in their neighborhoods.

Government of Katsina will convene a panel
A panel of inquiry will be established by the Katsina State Government to look into what led to the massacre.
Ibrahim Katsina, the state government’s security adviser, revealed this to journalists Saturday night in response to the murder.
A few terrorists were also killed during the incident, according to Mr. Katsina, a former director of the State Security Service (SSS).
According to him, the panel’s goal is to find out exactly what happened to cause the “disheartening” killing.

“His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari is concerned about the development and has ordered that an investigation panel and commission of inquiry be formed to determine the incident’s immediate and long-term causes so that we can be more proactive in addressing these issues.
