Mbaka leads prayer meeting for release of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, AMEN, led a special prayer session for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the imprisoned leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, or IPOB.

I pray For Our Brother Nnamdi Kanu, a video of the special prayer meeting was reportedly released on the ministry’s Facebook page on Friday.

The cleric’s sermon in the video appeared to have been captured at one of his church services.

On behalf of Kanu, the angry priest prayed to God for freedom in the 43-minute lengthy video.

“You are capable of anything. You have expertise in the impossibility. We deliver Nnamdi Kanu into your hands; please, please, please deliver him. Please, Lord, deliver him. Deliver him, Lord, for the benefit of your people. Free the ransom, grant him freedom. Emancipation. He is released from bondage by the same hand that releases those who are held captive.

Mbaka prayed, “Oh Lord, grant Kanu freedom. The entire Igbo people beseech you.”

Recall that Kanu was taken into custody by the DSS in June 2021 following his forcible return to Nigeria from Kenya on terrorism-related accusations.

Kanu’s unlawful deportation from Kenya to Nigeria to face the terrorism accusations had also led the appellate court to order his freedom. The Supreme Court rejected the government’s petition, which prevented the IPOB leader from being released.
