Nenadi Usman, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has urged Julius Abure and his supporters to run for the party’s leadership positions again.
According to the LP National Chairman, Abure and other candidates have the chance to run for the party’s chairmanship and other posts at the next national congress.
In order to promote peace and the advancement of political parties, she urged the resentful members to set aside their self-interest.
The Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed Julius Abure as the Labour Party’s National Chairman in January.
Peter Lifu, the judge, declared former Finance Minister Nenadi Usman to be the legitimate leader of the party, citing the Supreme Court’s 4 April 2025 order.
According to the court, INEC must acknowledge the caretaker committee led by Usman as “the only valid authority to represent the Labour Party” until the party’s national convention.
However, Abure and his caretaker committee have refused to resign. They reaffirmed their control over the party in a statement on Tuesday.
“I urge everyone to prioritize the interests of the party before their own. At a one-day high-level strategic multi-level stakeholders meeting in Abuja on Wednesday with the topic Reuniting the Labour Party Family: consolidating strength for sustainable political influence, hosted by the party’s national secretariat, Usman remarked, “Come and let’s work together.”
“And go run for office if you firmly believe that you should hold any position in the party congresses.”
In the event that you are deemed the victor, you will take over as the party’s leader or for whatever role you are running for.
