Let us work together to reclaim Oyo from the PDP, says the APC chairman-elect

Mr. Ajiboye Omodewu, the newly-elected Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has urged party leaders and members to work with him to reclaim the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.

Omodewu, who previously served as Commissioner for Lands and Housing during the tenure of the state’s immediate past governor, late Abiola Ajimobi, disclosed this during his acceptance speech.

According to our sources, Omodewu was elected Chairman of the party at the party’s congress on Saturday at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan’s Oke-Ado neighborhood.

The new chairman urged party leaders and members to work together to reclaim the state from the Peoples Democratic Party, which has ruled the state since May 2019.

He stated that as the state chairman of the APC, he needed the support and cooperation of co-aspirants, critical stakeholders, and party members in order to retake the state from the PDP in the 2023 general elections.

During his speech, Omodewu thanked members of the party for their trust in him.

He then requested a minute of silence in memory of some of the party’s deceased leaders.

“All thanks and adoration to Almighty God for making today’s All Progressives Congress (APC) State Congress in Oyo State a success,” Omodewu said.

“Before I begin, let us observe a one-minute silence in honor of two founding fathers of our great party, His Excellency (Dr.) Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina (Great Lam) and His Excellency (Dr.) Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi” (Shehu). Aljana Fridauz, may Almighty Allah grant the departed former governors. Amin.

“I am deeply honored to stand before great leaders and throngs of APC members as the duly elected State Chairman APC Oyo State.”

“Dear Delegates, I am humbled by the great honor and sacred trust you have bestowed on me, and I accept this responsibility with extreme humility.”

“Today’s state congress of our great party marks the start of a new chapter.” I belong to no one, but to all of the members of our great party. My primary responsibilities include uniting all factions within the party and leading the APC to victory in the 2023 general elections and beyond.

“This is a significant responsibility.” But I can assure our thronging members that it is a responsibility we will not take lightly. I pledge to do everything in my power, with God on my side, to justify the faith and confidence that APC members have placed in me and all the new members of our great party’s state executives.

“By the peaceful conduct of today’s exercise, we have shamed our critics.” In terms of today’s exercise, there is no victor and no defeat. I implore all party stakeholders to keep the love and interest in our great party alive in their hearts.

“I appeal to all members of this party to work together to ensure our party’s electoral victories in 2023 and beyond.”

“In conclusion, I humbly request the full support and cooperation of co-aspirants, key stakeholders, and our thronging members.” Join us in retaking Oyo State from the misruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.”
