Peter Obi’s LP must not win because of IPOB – APC chieftain

Biodun Ajiboye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, has made the claim that the Indigenous People of Biafra, also known as IPOB, contributed to the victory of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, in the election that took place on February 25 in the state.

According to him, the fact that the leader of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has never spoken out against the secessionist movement makes the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) one of the primary reasons why the Labour Party should not be given the opportunity to lead Lagos State.

In addition to this, he asserted that the former governor of Anambra State had used religious and tribal considerations to his advantage in order to defeat the APC in the most recent presidential election.

Ajiboye admitted that the LP and the Obidient Movement caught the APC off guard and shook their political foundation during the presidential election. He also vowed that the APC would never allow a situation like that to occur again during the elections for governor and state assembly on March 18.

The party chieftain was speaking on the factors that affected the APC in the last election, and he pointed out that the protest against SARS was one of those factors. He went on to say that the youths are still harboring the incidents that occurred during the national protest.

“The religious factor was actually Obama’s trump card. He intended to use it to propel himself to power. Therefore, he was going around from church to church and telling the people, “take your country back, take your country back,” as if the United States of America is rightfully the property of Christians and someone stole it from them. Wrong politicking if I may say,” he said on Arise TV.

“As a result, Christians started to get the impression that they needed to vote Muslims out of office and needed to prevent Muslim-Muslim candidates from winning. That was the factor that ultimately decided Lagos State’s fate. Because certain churches were particularly harsh with their congregants and urged them not to vote for candidate X or candidate Y, this was a factor that worked against us.

“And the question of tribalism. Obi engaged in intertribal politics, which, once again, worked to our disadvantage because members of the Igbo community banded together as a unified front and gave Obi their votes. We were, to a significant extent, taken by surprise. It was an uprising against the political stability and stronghold that we possessed.

“They actually came without us expecting it, and now that they’ve done it, we are now very much awake. Now that they’ve done it, we are very much awake. We now have the knowledge necessary to prevent a catastrophe of this kind from occurring again, including where to look and what steps to take. Why do I refer to it as a catastrophe? People do not comprehend the magnitude of what it would mean for the Labour Party to win Lagos State if they were to do so.

“There’s this separatist group called IPOB that the federal government of Nigeria has outlawed, but they are still operating very actively in the East, and Peter Obi has never once spoken out against IPOB. This is very concerning. The kind of electoral success that Peter Obi had in the East is evidence that IPOB worked for him.
