According to reports from The News Agency of Nigeria, Air Peace has confirmed that it has apprehended a passenger who was allegedly responsible for stealing N1 million from another passenger’s bag while on board one of its flights.
Stanley Olisa, the spokesman for the airline, said in a statement that was released on Wednesday that the incident occurred on board the Abuja-PHC flight P47192 on July 27.
Olisa reported that the suspect stole the sum of money that was in a brown envelope, but the perpetrator of the crime was apprehended by the owner of the money with the assistance of the airline’s staff.
He explained that the suspect removed a computer bag belonging to another passenger from the overhead compartment while the flight was in progress.

After that, “He proceeded to take the brown envelope that contained the money, placed the computer bag in another luggage compartment, and moved to an empty seat towards the rear of the aircraft.”
Despite the fact that the crew had announced a correct disembarkation sequence, according to Olisa, the suspect was among the first few people to leave the vessel.
According to him, the suspect was apprehended in the end, and the money was taken from him. He was found to be in possession of a variety of currencies, each of which had a different denomination.
According to Olisa, the suspect was turned over to the security operatives of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, who will then transfer him to the police so that further investigations can be conducted.
He stated that the police later confirmed that they had released him on bail, but that the chances of him being prosecuted were slim due to the fact that the owner of the money was unwilling to follow up on the matter.
