Aminu Tambuwal’s election as Speaker of the House in the 7th National Assembly was supported by the forum that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, ran.
Governor of Sokoto State for the last two terms is Tambuwal.
Recalling earlier attempts by speakership candidates to oppose selected candidates of their respective parties, Gbajabiamila said, “I regret it.
The Speaker addressed the Joint Task – 10th Assembly, a grouping of APC and opposition party representatives in the upcoming 10th National Assembly, on Wednesday evening in Abuja.
Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, respectively, the APC’s nominated candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th House, were adopted by the coalition.
Senator Godswill Akpabio, the APC candidate for Senate President, entered the room with the Speaker before Gbajabiamila spoke, made a quick comment, and then left.
