On Tuesday, his family revealed that Justice Azuka, the late lawmaker who served in Anambra State’s Onitsha North 1 Constituency, would be buried on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Recall that on December 24, 2024, Azuka was allegedly kidnapped in Onitsha while traveling home for Christmas along Ugwunaobankpa Road. He was found dead in the early hours of February 6, 2025, close to the Second Niger Bridge.
After a court decision declared that Douglas Egbuna of the Peoples Democratic Party had lost the 2023 election, Azuka, a leader of the Labour Party, regained his mandate.
Plans for a Funeral
A burial notice written by Chinyelugo Azuka, the head of the Azuka family, states that the funeral mass will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Awka Road in Onitsha, and that he would be buried at his family’s home in Ugwunaobankpa, Onitsha.
“Burning Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Awka Road, Onitsha, by 11 am on Saturday, February 15, 2025,” is part of the funeral poster. At 10:30 am, his remains will be laid in state at Onitsha Stadium.
