Lagos Govt Receives Items From NIMASA To Empower Underprivileged

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has provided resources to the Lagos State government in order to empower internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the poor.

Food, working tools, instructional materials, medical equipment, and other empowerment tools were among the resources supplied by NIMASA to the Lagos State government.

Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyonnwo, who attended the occasion in Agege, Lagos, on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, thanked NIMASA for the donations and pledged that the products will be transferred to the state government and the designated recipients.
The agency’s Director General, Dr. Bashiru Yusuf Jamau, was represented by Olamide 0dusanya, Director Audit, NIMASA, who indicated that the donations were part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility.

She stated that the given products will relieve the miseries of the poor and help to eradicate poverty in society, adding that the items would “also make them self-reliant, thus gradually eradicating poverty in our society.”

“The presentation of items to displaced victims of insurgency across the country, and Lagos, being Nigeria’s industrial hub and NIMASA’s host community, the DG has deemed it fit to extend his hands of fellowship and gesture to the existing vulnerable as part of the agency’s corporate social investment,” according to Odusanya.

“We invest in our communities across Nigeria; you will agree with me that empowerment is critical to the development and growth of a nation.

The agency has found it appropriate to employ basic rights such as education, nutrition, health, and luxury to bridge the gap by assisting and contributing across the 36 states in the country.”

“We’ve traveled to Kano, Anambra, and other states,” Odusanya continued. It’s a continuing activity, and we’ll keep going until we’ve covered all 36 states in the union. We have been investing in people, and we will continue to do so in order to achieve growth and development.

“It’s all about empowering the less fortunate. We’ll want to do more; the little we’re doing now will go a long way toward assisting the poor. Let us provide people’s most fundamental needs.”
