Lagos Begins Implementation of Single-Use Plastics Ban July 1

On July 1, the Lagos State administration will fully implement the ban on single-use plastics.

Tokunbo Wahab, the state’s environment commissioner, revealed this in a statement posted on X on Monday.

He claimed that throughout the previous 18 months, the state administration had enlisted the help of goods manufacturers and marketers.

In January 2024, the state government outlawed the use of single-use plastics and Styrofoam containers throughout the entire state.
During a courtesy visit by TETRA PAK West Africa Limited management, headed by Managing Director Haithem Debbiche, we reiterated our stance, Wahab stated.

This relates to environmental stewardship. Additionally, we have given ourselves plenty of time to conform to international best practices. In Lagos, what is undesirable elsewhere cannot become the norm. For the sake of the greater good, we must act morally and safeguard our future.
