Kirikiri Didn’t Allow Us Interact With Female Inmates In 1995 – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani revealed that male inmates were denied interaction with female inmates at Kirikiri prison in 1995.

Contrary to current practice, male inmates were not permitted to visit the female section or watch the female inmates’ pageant.

Sani noted on Twitter on Thursday that in 1995, male inmates were not even allowed to greet their female neighbors.

The former lawmaker who complained about the treatment praised the facility’s current staff for being “more civilised”.

“They refused to let us go to the female section to watch the Pageant; even to go and greet them, they said no,” he tweeted. The new guards are more civilized.”

Former Super TV CEO Michael Ataga’s killer, Chidinma Ojukwu, and other inmates took part in a beauty pageant at Kirikiri Correctional Facility.

The 21-year-old murder suspect won the beauty pageant held to commemorate 2022 International Women’s Day.
