Kidnapped are an ex-Imo speaker, a businessman, and others

In the state, a former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Lawman Duruji, a businessman, and a number of others have been kidnapped.

Aside from the businessman known as Ezzybee, the wife of an ex-chairman of the Okigwe Local Government Area, Frank Onwunere, and an unidentified person were abducted at Okwelle junction in the state’s Onuimo Local Government Area.
Other unidentified people were kidnapped in Mbaitoli and Amaraku, both in the state’s Mbano Local Government Area.

Ezzybee was abducted on his way to watch a local football game on Sunday.

Separate kidnappings took place in the state on Saturday and Sunday.

Duruji was kidnapped at Ehime Mbano LGA on Saturday in Oriagu while returning from a function, according to our source.

Micheal Abattam, a police spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, confirmed the incidents and said the command is on the lookout for the kidnappers.

One of the victims, who was kidnapped in Ubomiri, was rescued by the police, according to Abattam.
