The COVAX global distribution program will send over 2 million doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to Kenya and Ghana on Thursday.
An official from the White House confirms this, stating that the US sent 880,320 doses to Kenya, bringing the total number of doses sent to the African country to just over 1.76 million. It sent 1,229,620 doses to Ghana, the country’s first shipment.
The shipments on Thursday were the latest in a US vaccine diplomacy campaign that has seen vaccines delivered to dozens of countries.
COVAX, a joint venture between the World Health Organization and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, is delivering the doses (GAVI).
