The sum of N675 million has been approved by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for the payment of furniture allowance to the state’s 21 elected local government council chairmen.
Alhaji Ahmed Idris, the governor’s chief press secretary, announced this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
According to Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Umar, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, “the approval is for 2022 to 2024.”
In addition to thanking the governor for his kind gesture, the permanent secretary praised him for carrying out projects that directly affect the lives of the majority of people as well as for giving people’s lives purpose.
Alhaji Aminu Ahmed, the head of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria and the head of the Birnin Kebbi Local Government, responded to the development by praising the governor on behalf of his colleagues.
He guaranteed that the funds would cover the secretaries, council members, and local government council’s furniture allowance.
The allowance was long overdue, but now that this administration has taken office, our honorable and gracious governor has graciously approved it. This shows strong leadership.
He prayed, “May Almighty Allah guide him and grant him the knowledge to superbly direct the affairs of the state.”
