Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, flagged off the construction of 75 housing units of semi-detached two-bedroom flats at Bagudo Local Government Area on Monday.
The project is being constructed under the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission Resettlement Housing Scheme.
Flagging off the construction at Ganten Fadama in Bagudo Local Government, the governor expressed satisfaction with the gesture and assured his commitment to support HYPADEC to achieve its set goals and objectives.
He assured the readiness of his government to support any indigenous contractor willing to aid his administration in bringing development to the state.
The governor advised elites with political appointments to pay back to their respective communities through the execution of projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of the people.
He described the Managing Director of HYPPADEC as a good and responsible man, who always remembers his people wherever he finds himself.
Earlier, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwa, the HYPPADEC MD, commended Governor Idris for bringing succour to the suffering of the Kebbi people, in addition to fostering unity amongst them.
He explained that the housing units were meant to support the people of the state, especially those living in riverine areas.
The MD said, “Out of the 75 houses, 30 would be constructed at Ganten Fadama in Bagudo local government, 25 at Tudun Faila in Shanga local government, while 20 in Suru local government area of the state.
“We have done a lot to the communities affected by floods and fire outbreaks. We have also trained many youths in different skills towards ameliorating the suffering of the people,” he said.
