Residents in Kaduna State’s Afaka, Kauya, and Mando have received a notification from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) warning them to stay away from the open range during a planned shooting practice.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Kaduna, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, the academy’s public relations officer, provided this information, stating that the exercise is set to take place between February 26 and March 1.
This event is a component of the 72 Regular Course Army Cadets’ advanced application of the fire package, Maidawa explained.
It was acknowledged that live gunfire will be a part of the exercise, which is essential to the cadets’ training and growth.
In order to highlight the importance of safety precautions, Maidawa announced that warning signs and barriers will be erected throughout the range areas to demarcate prohibited areas.
“During the exercise, residents are asked to rigorously abide by these warnings and avoid the area, especially farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers.
In addition to urging community members to work together, the NDA has reaffirmed that everyone’s safety and welfare in the surrounding areas are of utmost importance.
According to Maidawa, “the residents can help ensure their safety and the effective training of military personnel by avoiding the designated area.”
He claimed that in order to protect people from any possible injury and to guarantee the success of the training exercise, the warning was sent as a necessary precaution.
