Babcock University categorically denied assertions made in a recent Al Jazeera report headlined “Tested on Palestinians: Epstein, Israel’s Barak Pushed Spy Tech In Nigeria” on Thursday, calling the claims untrue and deceptive.
The research purportedly showed the university’s involvement in security and surveillance-related activities and connected it to the purchase of biometric technology from Israel.
Any such transactions have been flatly refuted by the religious organization.
The institution responded quickly to the release by initiating what it called a thorough internal assessment of its administrative, financial, and procurement records.
The management maintains that the audit found no proof to back up the allegations.
According to the institution, it has never bought equipment from Israel or taken part in intelligence gathering, surveillance, counterterrorism, or other security-related activities.
In a statement, Dr. Johnson Babafemi Akintayo, Associate Vice-President, Communication, Media, and Branding, emphasized that the university, being a religious establishment, follows well-defined procurement policies that adhere to both domestic laws and globally accepted accountability standards.
“The University functions under well-defined procurement procedures that are in line with national legislation and globally accepted accountability standards, as it is a faith-based organization built on academic excellence, ethical governance, and regulatory compliance.
“Structured approval procedures, documentation guidelines, and institutional control apply to every acquisition.
“Any suggestion that goes against the University’s mission, principles, governance structure, or operational mandate is forcefully disassociated with the institution.
“Babcock University is unwavering in its dedication to honesty, openness, and responsible leadership, as well as the faith that students, parents, alumni, partners, regulatory agencies, and the general public have in it.
Insisting that its mission and operations remain firmly founded in integrity and academic quality, Babcock reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, ethical governance, and the trust that students, parents, alumni, and regulatory agencies have placed in it.
