Jorginho, a Chelsea midfielder, has revealed that he was ‘close’ to signing for Manchester City three years ago.
The Italian international also stated that he is “extremely, extremely happy” to have joined Chelsea.
Jorginho was acquired for £50 million from Napoli by Chelsea’s former manager, Maurizio Sarri, in July 2018.
Pep Guardiola’s side was also linked with the 29-year-old midfielder at the time.
“It was close [to joining Man City], but it didn’t work out. It’s how football works at times,” Jorginho told BT Sport.

“I am ecstatic to be at Chelsea. It’s a huge club, and everyone here right now is so humble that the atmosphere is fantastic.
“That’s why things are going so smoothly.”
After Italy’s Euro 2020 victory, Jorginho was named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.
