Jonathan’s candidacy in 2023 will bring calm to the south-east, according to the Southern Group.

The Southern Network for Good Governance, a political pressure group, claims that a Goodluck Jonathan candidacy in 2023 will calm the “rage” in the south-east.

There has been a push for political parties to allocate their presidential ballots to the country’s southern regions.

The former president has expressed no interest in running for the nation’s highest office.

The group’s coordinator, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, said in a statement on Tuesday that having Jonathan run for president will “balance the interests of all sections of the country.”

“GEJ’s candidacy is useful in the current political expediency of balancing the interests of all sections of the country,” Chukwuemeka said.

“The south-west has been at the forefront of Nigeria’s structural reforms to reflect current realities, and GEJ has once again proven his commitment by convening the 2014 National Reform Conference.

“There is no doubt that GEJ will build on the successes of the Buhari administration’s restructuring efforts, particularly in the areas of the judiciary and local government autonomy.

“GEJ’s candidacy will assuage the rage of south-east youths who have been duped into a misunderstanding of the political equation because he is a relative.”

“The south-east can attest to Goodluck Jonathan’s array of political allies in the political, economic, and international spheres of endeavor.”

Nobody should be afraid, according to the coordinator, because Jonathan is not vengeful.

“He has demonstrated that he is not vengeful or hateful, but rather selfless and tolerant of all people, regardless of their political, social, or religious beliefs.” He stated, “GEJ is the national consensus.”

“A tried-and-true man is preferable to a million inexperienced ‘experts.'” In light of these circumstances, we require a national consensus rather than a quota president.”
