Insecurity in the FCT: Imam discovered dead in uncompleted building

Malam Abdurrashid Usman, the Imam of the Kubwa Muslim Cemetery, was discovered dead in an unfinished building near his farm.

Prior to the discovery of his body, Malam Abdurrashid, a native of Warawa in Kano State, was reported missing.

Adamu Isma’ila, a relative who confirmed the news to reporters, said the Imam left the house but did not return.

The incident was reported to the police while the family was looking for the Imam, he claims.

“We dispersed into the bush around Gado-Nasko farm from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., but we couldn’t find him, apart from his clothes, a wheel truck he used, his axe, and the firewood,” he said.

“We conducted another round of search around the same location yesterday morning, and we were about to give up when one of us suggested that we extend the search to an unfinished building.

“We found his body with injuries on his head, as if he had been struck by some of the firewood found nearby.”

According to reports, insecurity in the nation’s capital has recently escalated as criminal elements continue to wreak havoc across the country.

Remember that the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Abuja branch, went on a five-day warning strike on Thursday to demand that teachers and students be protected from the assailants’ activities.
