In the second phase of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) drive, over 1.2 million Nigerians have successfully registered to vote, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has declared a notable increase in voter enrolment.

The Commission said in an update posted on its official X platform Thursday that 1,228,648 eligible voters have registered as of February 13, 2026, during Phase II, Week Six of the exercise.

Compared to the 884,737 registrations at the end of Week Five, this indicates a significant rise.

According to INEC data, 673,124 applicants registered online using the pre-registration portal, while 555,524 people completed the procedure in person at specific registration locations around the country.

According to a state-by-state analysis, Jigawa State had the most new registrants—98,698 or 8.03 percent of the total—among all the states.

Lagos State (86,307), Sokoto State (77,004), and Kano State (71,990) come next.

Women make up the majority of registrants (696,891; 57%), according to the gender breakdown, while men make up 531,757 (43%).

Young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 34 make up the majority of the registration numbers (848,066, or 69.02%).

Additionally, INEC stated that 19,414 PWDs had registered nationally thus far.

With the exception of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where registration has been suspended in accordance with the Electoral Act in advance of the Area Council elections scheduled for February 21, 2026, the Commission stated that the CVR exercise is still taking place nationwide.

Beginning on January 5, 2026, Phase II of the CVR is expected to conclude in April 2026. Approximately 2.78 million new voters were added to the national register during Phase I, which ran from August to December 2025.
