Following a fatal motor accident on the Damaturu-Potiskum Road in Yobe State, 19 people have been confirmed dead, with two others suffering serious injuries.

Two Golf Wagon vehicles with registration numbers KHE 454 XA and BKD 74 SB, both bearing Jigawa State plate numbers, were involved in an accident on Thursday.

Some eyewitnesses blamed the accident on both drivers of the vehicles speeding while speaking on the phone.

When the incident occurred, eight of the victims, all from the same family, were on their way to a wedding in Azare, Bauchi State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) stated that they have yet to receive news of the accident, but that they will address journalists when they do.

However, as of the time of filing this report, the agency had yet to do so.
