On Tuesday, September 5, Comrade Kayode Martins, the chairman of the NLC’s Oyo state chapter, expressed pleasure with the degree to which workers in the state had complied with the two-day warning strike that had been ordered by the union’s national headquarters.
He warned of an indefinite strike if the government did not respond to worker agitation within 14 working days of the warning strike, claiming that a call to all affiliate unions demonstrated that they all complied.
Martins encouraged the federal government to act swiftly to address worker welfare, claiming that the loss of the subsidy had a significant impact.
While their offices were locked and secured, public organizations like Nihort, FRIN, and other banks that our correspondent visited in the city of Ibadan appear to have complied fully.
