Following renewed hostilities in Nasarawa State’s Lafia, Obi, and Awe local government areas from Friday to Sunday, suspected herdsmen killed over 45 farmers and injured dozens more.
Witnesses said the trouble began when a herder was killed by unknown hoodlums in Obi on Friday.
The next day, it was reported that herdsmen had retaliated in more than 12 communities across the state’s three local government areas.

Thousands of farmers in the communities have been displaced as a result of the attacks, according to sources, while dozens of others who were injured are being treated at hospitals across the local government areas.
On Monday, Alhaji Abdullahi Sule, who visited the affected areas, condemned the killings, calling them senseless and barbaric.
He directed security agencies to find the perpetrators of the crime, stating that no one would be spared.
Sule also urged the communities to live in peace, claiming that development would be impossible without it.
