In Kwara, Senate President Bags Magayaki chieftaincy Title

On Sunday, the Kaiama Emirate Council in Kwara State will confer a chieftaincy title on President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan.

Lawan will be turbaned as Magayaki of Kaiama Emirate, which means the lead warrior who ensures the Emirate is protected, survives, and progresses, according to a statement released in Abuja on Saturday.

The title is being bestowed on Lawan in recognition of his “support for development in the Emirate and his examplenary leadership of the Ninth senate,” according to the Emirate Council’s statement.

Senator Sadiq Umar currently represents Kaiama in the Senate, which is located in the Kwara North Senatorial District.

The Senate President and his entourage arrived in Ilorin on Saturday morning ahead of the turbanning, and will travel to Kaiama on Sunday for the ceremony.

Lawan attended the Fatiha of Aisha, daughter of Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, shortly after his arrival in Ilorin today (NILDS).

Dr. Hussain Yahaya gave Dr. Aisha Sulaiman his hand in marriage.

Senate Leader Dr. Yahaya Abdullahi, Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Senator Saidu Alkali, Senator Bello Mandiya, Senator Yakubu Oseni, Senator Barau Jibrin, Sen Lawali Anka, Senator Bima Enagi, and his Chief of Staff Dr. Babagana M. Aji are accompanying the Senate President on the trip from Abuja.
