Gunmen assaulted the Episcopal Church of West Africa (ECWA) in Kabba, Kogi State, yesterday, murdering one person and kidnapping three others.
Eight days earlier, gunmen assaulted the Federal Medium Correctional Centre in the same location, killing five people and allowing 240 convicts to flee.
The congregants of the ECWA Church, which is located on the Kabba-Okene Expressway, are largely faculty and students of the College of Education Technical, Kabba, Kogi State.
The gunmen were claimed to have assassinated the college’s main security officer, who was also a church member, before abducting their victims, which included the college’s pioneer provost, Mr J. O. T Osadumo.
An eyewitness stated that the abductors stormed the church while the ceremony was still going on, injuring the wife of the abducted former provost and some students.

Two additional people who were shot, according to an eyewitness who requested anonymity, are being treated in an unnamed hospital.
