Hon. Mohammed Ahmed, a member of the State House of Assembly, was assassinated on Wednesday.
Ahmed was said to have been killed by bandits on the Sheme-Funtua Road in Katsina State, which is adjacent to Nigeria.
The incident was confirmed this morning by Saidu Anka, the Clerk of the state assembly in Abuja.
He did not, however, go into detail about the circumstances surrounding the lawmaker’s death.

A few hours before Ahmed’s death, several key politicians in the state defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) (APC).
