Seven people were killed in separate attacks by suspected terrorists in Kuriga, Kaduna State, along the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna route.
On his way to register for the Joint Admission Matriculations Board’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in the state capital, a student from Government Science Secondary School, Birnin-Gwari, was said to have fled with a bullet wound.
The Birnin Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance issued a statement on Saturday in Kaduna, which was signed by its Chairman, Ibrahim Nagwari.

Three other people escaped with minor injuries, according to the statement, while 57 people were kidnapped by the robbers.
‘One student of Science School, Birnin-Gwari, was attacked while traveling for JAMB registration, while seven others were killed in separate incidents,’ according to the statement. “The nightmare of armed banditry along the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway has worsened in the last 24 hours,” the statement added. While on his way to the JAMB -UTME registration in Kaduna today (Saturday) about 10 a.m., a final-year student of Science Secondary School Birnin-Gwari escaped with bullet wounds on his shoulder.
“The horrible armed bandits blasted shots on the car transporting the pupil and others along the Birnin-Gwari Kaduna Highway at Manini village beyond Kuriga.” At Jibrin Maigwari General Hospital in Birnin-Gwari, the student is awaiting surgery to remove the bullet from his shoulder.
“On Saturday, armed bandits killed seven individuals in Randagi district, Birnin-Gwari, at Unguwar Bula, Unguwar Dafillo, and Ijinga. Around eleven o’clock on Friday morning, fifty bandits on motor circles attacked the neighborhoods, lasting four hours and prevented people from doing Juma’at prayers.”

The attacks had not been confirmed by the state or the state police command at the time of reporting this article.
ASP Mohammad Jalige, the command’s spokesman, did not return our correspondent’s call or respond to a text message when contacted.
