On Saturday morning, gunmen set fire to the country home of George Obiozor, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
The incident occurred in Awo- Omamma, Mr Obiozor’s hometown in Imo State’s Oru East Local Government Area.
The gunmen, according to reports, detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to destroy the structure.
The gunmen drove into the compound around 6:15 a.m., shooting indiscriminately for over 15 minutes before setting the house on fire, according to residents.
Our Reporter has learned that Mr Obiozor’s brother’s homes were also set ablaze.
The attack destroyed properties and valuables worth millions of naira.

“They set fire to the building with explosive devices and gasoline gallons.” When we entered the building, some areas were still burning, and the properties had been reduced to ashes.
“The buildings’ roofs were blown off and scattered throughout the compound. “Those who live in the compound now fear that the unidentified gunmen will return to cause more damage,” a resident said.
“The most painful aspect of it was that these hoodlums set fire to Obiozor’s brother’s house. He went on to say, “It wasn’t as much as Obiozor house.”
Micheal Abattam, a police spokesperson in Imo state, confirmed the attack.
According to him, no one was killed in the attack.
“Earlier this morning, Obiozor’s house was attacked. “There has been no official report of lives lost,” Mr Abattam said.
Meanwhile, gunmen killed two police officers in a deadly attack on a police facility in Umuguma, Imo State’s Owerri West council area, on Saturday.
For the time being, it’s unclear whether the two attacks were carried out by the same person.
The two attacks, on the other hand, bear the imprint of IPOB, an outlawed group campaigning for the creation of an independent state of Biafra in Nigeria’s south-east and parts of the south-south.
